Instant Messaging Clients
On the e-scene, there is one revolution after another. The way telephone replaced the telegraph, so did e-mail replace postal mail. It did not stop there. Chat over an instant messenger has replaced e-mail and the most happening thing today are instant messaging clients. Instant messaging clients are used for business as well as social purposes. Their growth is user driven and users are performance driven. The first of instant messaging clients was ICQ and had its glorious period (and still does) in the 1990s. Even though the chat handle in ICQ meaning I Seek You was a numerical, users were delighted with the unique capability of “text talking in real time” and reminded many of the CB radio days.

While Instnat messengers like Yahoo and AOL and Google Talk have a steady growth, there are others which too enjoy immense popularity with the users such as Paltalk and Skype.
